Socioeconimc factors and awareness of high-growth entrepreneurship as a career option

Blackstone LaunchPad at UAlbany is currently recruiting students to conduct research on whether students from low-income and impoverished communities view high-growth entrepreneurship (starting venture fundable companies) as a career option. At the end of the research we hope to deliver a report AND STRATEGY that can benefit all universities in the Blackstone LaunchPad network, as well as all organizations supporting these communities.

Deliverables will be:

  • Data on High-Growth Startups (HGS) from low-income communities:  # of companies, success ratio, HGS compared to small business/lifestyle businesses stared, HGS started compared to other communities.

  • Understanding of why less high-growth companies are founded by residents of these communities.

  • What is preventing them from starting a high-growth businesses

  • Tools that can help reduce hurdle of starting a high growth business

  • Strategy to make community aware of HGS as an option

  • Strategy to teach HGS entrepreneurship to this community.

  • Strategy to support HGS entrepreneurs from this community.
