PITCH COMPETITION 

WIN $250!

On November 17th Blackstone LaunchPad at UAlbany will be hosting our annual pitch competition! Take your ideas to the next level. This is a great opportunity to practice your pitching skills and bring your ideas to life. Cash prizes will be awarded to our top three teams.

Each team will have 4 minutes to pitch their Idea or New Venture to a panel of judges, then 3 minutes for Q&A from the judge and audience.  

3 teams will each win $250.  Top 2 teams as voted on by the judges, plus 1 "Crowd Favorite" as voted by the audience - So bring your friends to support you!

 This is a great opportunity to get feedback and network with other entrepreneurs!

Sign-up by Tuesday, November 15th.  

Key Dates

  • Tuesday, November 15th: Application Deadline

    • All applications must be submitted by 11:59PM ET on Tuesday, November 15th

  • Thursday, Novemeber 17th 10:00AM: Pitch Deck due

    • You must submit your final pitch deck by 10:00AM on Thursday, Novenber 17th.

    • Email pitch decks to Carson Weng at cweng@albany.edu.

    • Decks should be Microsoft Powerpoint, canva, or prezi.

    • Title the Deck name_pitch

  • Thursday, November 17th 5:00PM: Competition

    • Location: ETEC 149/151 - Multipurpose / Training Room.

    • Please arrive early.

    • Food will be provided

  • Thursday, November 17th 7:00PM: Winner Announced

Contest Rules

At least 1/2 team members must be current UAlbany students.

If you have previously entered the Pitch Off, you can re-enter with same idea only if you did not previous win any prizes. Or you can always enter with a new, different idea.

By entering this commpetition you agree to let us use any photos of the event, names of participantst and ventures for marketing purposes.

Pitch Guide:

Presentations should be in Powerpoint or Prezi.

Suggested Slides:

  1. INTRO/ CONTEXT – Engage Audience, Introduce yourself

  2. PROBLEM  / NEED - The problem or need that they have

  3. SOLUTION - What the product is.  What is your solution?

  4. CUSTOMERS- Who this product is for

  5. VALUE PROPOSITION- The benefit it provides, your value proposition

  6. ADVANTAGE - The advantage over the existing solution

  7. MARKET – Why is this a good space to be in? How big is it?

  8. BUSINESS MODEL – How will you sell this to your customer?

Each pitch must be less than 4 minutes! There will be 2 minutes for questions.
