Former students and winners of the MHRBPC and NYBPC will share their experiences encountered during the different phases of the competition, including developing their business idea and plan, support they received from college advisors and community mentors, pitching to a panel of judges, building their entrepreneurial network, and what they are doing now, including decisions and steps to launch their business.  

Guest Speaker:  Loyan Mensah
In addition to the panel, hear from guest speaker and entrepreneur, Loyan Mensah, Director at Loyan Mensah and Associates, who is a business strategist with experience in financial coaching.

NYBPC Pitch Virtual Workshop

Upstate Capital is hosting a NYBPC Pitch Virtual Workshop with Jeff Fuchsberg from Syracuse University’s Center for Advanced Systems and Engineering.  Jeff has worked with entrepreneurs and judged startup competitions nationwide, including business plan competitions with NASA and $1 million pitches with GENIUS NY.

At 2PM on Friday, February 24th, Jeff will take you through a presentation and interactive exercises to help you understand:

·  The competition rules, template, and scoring rubric

·  Best practices to show off your student venture and the progress you’ve made with it

·  How to handle Q&A

·  Where to find additional resources and help

Monday, March 27th: Deadline to Register for Regional Competition

Saturday, April 1st: Live In-Person Competition at UAlbany ETEC:

 Event will include pitches, refreshments, entrepreneur motivational speaker, opportunities for networking

Tuesday, April 18: Student deadline to submit materials for the state Finals.

Friday, April 24th: Semi-finalists selected and notified to advance to in-person semi-finals and finals

Thursday, April 27th: In-person semi-finals and finals in Syracuse
